Twmpa and Hay Bluff, Black Mountains
Park:  Free public car park at stone circles 4 miles south of Hay-on-Wye •  GR (OL13) 240373

The walk starts at an altitude of about 1,600ft which minimises the height to be climbed.  The first section heads SW following the lower slopes of the escarpment.  Turning SE we ascend a steep climb to the top of the ridge where the high point of Twmpa (Lord Hereford’s Knob) is quickly reached.  After a short walk on top of the ridge the path descends to Gospel Path from where a second ascent is made to the ridge which leads on to Hay Bluff.  A short walk to the SW finds the Offa’s Dyke Path which takes us down to the car park.  Tremendous views.  This is a weather dependent walk.  No stiles.  Two steep climbs.
